Life at SEECS (NUST)

After getting through the tests and having quite many options, it was quite a dilemma for me to decide which institute to join. I was vacillating between GIKI and SEECS (I was offered 4 years scholarship at GIKI). Choosing SEECS at the last moment was the decision I will never regret. 

Its quite natural to be confused when shifting to an entirely new setup and method of study. But Fortunately everyone at SEECS from Faculty to staff is always there to help you out. All the tasks are carried out in a systematic way which makes things easier.

Orientation Day

"Thappar se dar nahi lagta sahib, Ragging se lagta ha"

The fear of being fooled and embarrassed in front of fellow students is  really annoying and sometimes unbearable. SEECS has zero tolerance policy regarding Ragging. Instead of embarrassing you, the sophomore batch celebrates the first week as week of welcome to greet the freshmen, followed by a superb Freshmen Night (welcome party sort of thing).

"GPA does n't matter"

All the students who get into here are no doubt cream of Pakistan. It creates an environment congenial for the mental growth, and personal grooming on one hand , but on the other hand it makes achieving grades a bit too difficult. I have seen students in my batch coming as toppers of their respective boards and reducing to average or above average here. But in the end its not the grades, the experience, the mental uplift and grooming you will have here will pay you in your future.

There are a lot of societies operating at SEECS, unlike other universities. Notable among them are IEEE, SGA and ACM. Joining these societies not only keeps you busy but also helps you to explore the hidden talent which you have got and boost your confidence.

Where's the party!!!

Round the year, festivals and events are arranged. From Welcome Party to Movie Nights, everything is arranged, to let the students get a breath keeping the studies apart for sometime. SEECS sport Gala, Chinese New Year, Drama-Fest Scavenger Hunt, Week of welcome are notable among co-curricular activities. Workshops and seminars are conducted regularly. Students participate in them at their will according to their interests. It broadens their vision and gives them chance to interact closely with grade-A people from all walks of life.

"What if I tell you, CEO Snap Chat visited SEECS!!!"

Yeah, Evan Thomas Spiegel, the CEO Snap Chat, paid visit to SEECS last year. It was an experience worth remembering and sharing. Similarly Ambassadors and businessmen are quite often invited to hold seminars and deliver motivational speeches.
