By now, you have probably marked number 9th on your calendars for the month of July. You are certainly working day and nights, going through those short notes you might have made, or solving the never ending MCQ’s book you all have. All because you are about to give the Entry Test of one of the most prestigious institute of the country, you have guessed it right folks- Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute Of Engineering, Sciences & Technology Aka GIKI.
Most of you might not be familiar about the Entry
Test of GIKI, you might not know the pattern of the test, the difficulty level,
the amount of multiple choice questions, the negative marking etc. So I am
Muneeb ur Rehman, currently a student of GIKI; and I will be telling all about
it!
1) Pattern
First of all there is a good piece of news for all of you
anticipating to give GIKI’s Entry Test. You are about to ditch the all
important subject you have been mugging up for days- Yes everyone, Chemistry!
So there is no Chemistry coming up in the test. You will have questions from
only three subjects; Physics, Mathematics and English.
You will have a total of 60 multiple choice
questions divided into two main parts; Part A and Part B.
Part A- It will have 40 Questions of Physics and
Mathematics each carrying +3 marks. There is also negative marking of -1 for
each wrong answer. While the unanswered question will not be awarded any mark.
Part B- It will have 20 Questions Of English each
carrying +1 mark and no negative marking.
2) Time Allotted
You will be given ninety (90) minutes for Part A and
thirty (30) minutes for Part B.
So the whole allotted time for the test will be two
hours (120 minutes). Don’t worry about the time, it’s more than enough!
3) Difficulty Level
By far, GIKI’s test is one of the most conceptual
one. So a strong conceptual approach is required for nailing it! And compared
with the likes of NUST, it is a bit different as the questions are not that
much straight.
4) Course
All questions will be from the standard text books
of Intermediate Level and there isn’t any specific syllabus, be it the FSC
Students or the A ‘levels.
5) Minimum Threshold
So in order to get admission in GIKI, you have to
score good marks in its Entrance test as the weightage of it is a whopping 85%. You
have to at least mark more than 40/60
questions correct in order to get a good merit no.
You can have a look
at GIKI’s Entrance Test Sample Paper from the following link: http://www.giki.edu.pk/Documents/Admissions/Undergraduate/SAMPAPER2013.pdf
This was all from
my side. Remember, never underestimate yourself! Work smart, believe in yourself
and have faith in Allah! Best of luck! May Allah bless you all!
